Very few of us can shoot any better than that anyway, and it wouldn't be the guns fault if we were worse. 357 Magnum Vintage Empty Box Blackhawk 6 1/2 Inch Revolver 65.00 + shipping + shipping + shipping Vintage RUGER BLACKHAWK. Neither of these guns had anything done to them other than grips, and hundreds of rounds thru them. The only reason we were shooting as well as we did was because we were 30 years old with perfect eyesight and we were shooting 2-3 times a week! Never saw any better than 1" and even that was pretty rare. We shot literally hundreds of groups with many different loads and boolits at 25 yds. 41 Magnum this revolver balances power and ver.
I put a Powers wide spur hammer,a new free spin pawl ,recrowned the barrel, took the road sign off the barrel, did a trigger job using Power series 1&2 jigs. The Ruger Blackhawk has been a standard for single action revolvers since its inception. I had a friend who could occasionally get 1" out of his RSBH. Hi, I came across a not abused but a neglected RBH in 41 mag. I had a S&W M29 that would consistantly do 1.5" at 25yds 30 years ago when I could see well enough to actually shoot it that well. I'm sure some will disagree but better than 1" would be a very rare gun indeed. This is the accepted high point of accuracy for handguns. I have always heard that no Revoler or Pistol for that matter will do any better than 1" at 25 yds. The biggest mistake I see in the world of machine work is not knowing when to quit. Knowing what the gun is capible of first, will save a bunch of unnecessary worry, and work. Unnecessarily messing with barrels usually only makes things worse. If it is down around 1.5" I'd definately leave it alone! You've done all the internal work. The new value of a RUGER BLACKHAWK pistol has risen 22.99 dollars over the past 12 months to a price of 843.15. The 12 month average price is 883.93 new and 736.05 used.
